SPD investigating shots fired near Delaware Academy

The shots were fired on the corner of S. Geddes Street and Fitch Street, right near the school.

Syracuse Police are investigating a shots fired incident that happened near Delaware Academy Thursday morning.

Police said nobody was hurt. The shots were fired on the corner of S. Geddes Street and Fitch Street, right near the school.

The shots were detected by Shotspotter, a program that uses audio technology to detect shots fired incidents, and also reported to Onondaga County 911 by people in the area. Police said multiple shots were fired.

A district official said the school was placed in a "lock out," meaning nobody was allowed to enter the building. That has since been lifted.

The shots fired incident remains under investigation.
