Syracuse Police say the death on a man on Shonnard Street over the weekend originally ruled suspicious is now believed to be an accident.

Syracuse Police say the death on a man on Shonnard Street over the weekend originally ruled suspicious is now believed to be an accident.

Police were called to the 400 block of Shonnard Street Sunday around 1 a.m. for calls of a possible shooting. When police arrived they found a male victim seriously injured, in a home hallway, according to Syracuse Police.

While an ambulance responded to the scene, the man died of his injuries, police said.

Working with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office, detectives determined the death was the result of an accident. Police said it appears the victim, a man in his 40's, injured himself while using a power tool inside his home and his death does was not the result of a criminal act.
