The SU basketball team gained one of the most highly regarded basketball recruits for 2013 on Thursday night when Tyler Ennis announced that he plans on playing for the Syracuse Orange. The Toronto, Ontario native made the announcement on the CIA Bounce's website , the AAU Basketball team he plays for based out of Toronto. You can watch the first section of the website's show on the video player above, as Ennis makes his decision known around the four minute mark.
Ennis chose Syracuse over Illinois, Louisville, Memphis and UCLA. The 6-foot-2' point guard had been honing his skills at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey.
Rivals.com has Ennis listed as the number 20 overall recruit in the 2013 class, while Scout.com has him ranked as the number 4 point guard.
CBS Sports' College Basketball Recruiting Blogger Jeff Borzello says that Ennis "excels in transition because of his speed, but he is also capable of running a halfcourt set and finding teammates for baskets. He knows how to get to the rim off the dribble, and he can also get hot from behind the arc. Ennis' strength is his penetration ability, as he can draw defenders and kickout, or finish himself."
Ennis played on the bronze medal winning Canadian team at the FIBA Americas U18 Championships in Brazil. He also played in the Nike Global Challenge in Alexandria, Va.
