State police charge Port Byron student for making threat
PORT BYRON, N.Y. —
State police announced they arrested a 13-year-old Port Byron student for making a terroristic threat Wednesday.
Troopers say the student made claims that he would harm other students at the school.
According to officials,investigators didn't believe his threats would be carried out and at no time were any students or faculty were in any danger.
The student was charged and released into the custody of a legal guardian.
He is scheduled to appear in Cayuga County Family Court on a later date.
This is the second arrest of a Port Byron student for making a terroristic threat in as many months. In Feburary, state police charged a 12-year-old boy for a threat allegedly made on social media and during school.
