Troop D has introduced the newest member of its New York State Police K9 Unit.
A bloodhound named Lynde, along with her handler Trooper Kevin Conners, joins the unit. Trooper Conners is a 12 year veteran with state police. He and Lynde were just certified through the New York State Police Division Bloodhound Training. Troopers describe Lynde as an energetic and friendly 2 1/2 year old bloodhound that likes being out in the field and is ready to start her career. Lynde was a rescue, coming from the Ontario County Humane Society Happy Tails Animal Shelter.
She'll be used to track suspects, lost or missing persons and evidence.
Trooper Conners also has a 16-week old bloodhound puppy that was donated to state police. Trooper Conners hopes she'll become an excellent tracker when her training is complete. The puppy will be named after she receives her certification.
