State senators pushing for $55 million to help Lake Ontario property owners
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Property owners hit hard by rising waters along Lake Ontario could be closer to financial help.
New York State Senator Rich Funke (R) announced Friday that several state lawmakers are co-sponsoring a bill to provide $55 million in funds to help home and business owners.
State DEC leaders toured the local shoreline to inspect damage.
"The other thing we're doing is we're sending engineers out on site to visit people's homes, see what their particular situation is, offer our advice on what might work, what might not work," said Paul D'Amato, who works with the state DEC. "So we're trying to get out there and work with all of the other agencies."
The DEC is also helping property owners with their work permits to move the process along quicker.
Anyone in need of assistance can call the local DEC office at 226-5400.
