Stripe painting on West Genesee Street makes 690 detour 'interesting'

Syracuse DPW crews were stripe painting on West Genesee Street Monday morning, as hundreds of commuters were figuring out new detours

As hundreds of commuters were trying to figure out what to do with the 690 closure, they faced an added complication on Monday morning: lane limitations on West Genesee Street in downtown Syracuse as city DPW crews were putting down new road stripes.

The State DOT announced the 690 Eastbound closure last week, and had asked motorists to make plans in advace to get to destinations on time.

Syracuse's DPW Commissioner has a meeting with Common Councilor Helen Hudson, whose Public Works Committee oversees the DPW, on Tuesday afternoon. She told us she was not happy at the timing of the project, and wants to make sure that city roads are accessible.
