A six-unit apartment house in the Town of Sullivan burned early Sunday morning.
Madison County 911 tells us smoke could be seen from 5 miles away, from the building off Lakeport Road on Wheeler Road, near North Chittenango.
The alarm came in at 8:04am, and two minutes later firefightwers were already calling for mutual aid from Onondaga County.
Bridgeport firefighters as well as EAVES Ambulance and heavy rescue equipment from other departments assisted the Chittenango-area volunteers.
We are told that everyone got out safely. The Red Cross says it's helping the 7 adults and 2 children displaced by the fire, with food and clothing available for all. Shelter has been set up for those in need, and one family is receiving necessary infant supplies.
Fire officials say it could be a few days before a cause is known.
