An SUV crashed through the window at the Thompson Road McDonaldâ??s, coming to rest inside the restaurant, Dewitt Police say.
The crash happened at about 11:30 am, when an 74-year-old woman was leaving the restaurant and hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, sending the SUV through the windows and into the seating area. Police say the woman was not hurt in the accident.
A manager on the scene told CNY Central that a gentleman had sat down to eat by the window and had gotten up to use the restroom, seconds before the vehicle slammed through the window, crushing the chair he was sitting in.
There were no reported injuries, and the restaurant is closed for the rest of the day for repairs and clean-up. The owner says doors will reopen at normal business hours tomorrow.
There is no word of any charges related to the crash, but the investigation is continuing.
The East Syracuse Fire Department aided Police on the scene.
