Syracuse Hall of Fame basketball coach Jim Boeheim may have his team's ranking up to second in the nation, but the Orange coach is ranked only seventh in a coaches competition to raise major money for charity. The Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation is once again part of the Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge.
The grand prize for the coach that gets the most votes on ESPN.com is a grant of $100,000 to his favorite charity. Of course, Coach Boeheim has designated the Boeheim Foundation. The foundation enriches the lives of children in Central New York and provides support for eliminating cancer.
The current leader of the Infiniti Challenge is Thad Matta, the head coach at Ohio State with 31% of the vote. Second place is held by Gregg Marshall of Wichita State at 18%. Coach Boeheim is seventh at 3%. So the Syracuse Orange fans have their work cut out for them.
There is a March Madness type format to the contest. Round One voting runs through January 26th. Each voter can cast a ballot once per day.
