Syracuse Board of Education Candidates address hot-button issues at public forum.

Candidates for the Syracuse Board of Education met for a public forum at J.T. Roberts K-8 school tonight. Current president Patricia Body is running for her second term on the Board. Also on the ballet for the three open positions are David Cecile, who previously served on the Central Square School Board, Derrick Dorsey, Barbara Humphrey and Edward McLaughlin, a former Syracuse Board of Education member. Candidates addressed numerous hot-button issues tonight including high school suspension rates, which are higher among minority students, floundering test scores and graduation rates and the new highly controversial teacher evaluations. Elections for the Board of Education take place November 5.
