Syracuse forward Taurean Thompson leaving university
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Taurean Thompson will not return to Syracuse University for the 2017-2018 season.
Coach Jim Boeheim said in a statement Thompson, who has played as a forward for the team, is taking a leave of abscense:
We have been informed that Taurean is taking a leave of absence from Syracuse University. My understanding is he wants to go to school closer to home due to some family health issues. - Coach Jim Boeheim
According to the bio on Syracuse's athletics website, Thompson is from New York City.
Thompson averaged 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 34 games in his freshman year for the Orange last season.
