Syracuse lawmakers put off vote on Connective Corridor fee

Connective Corridor enhancements in Syracuse

It's a small victory for businesses who have been vocally critical of a plan to assess a new fee in the area of the Connective Corridor in Syracuse.

The issue was discussed at Monday's Syracuse Common Council meeting, but the lawmakers did not vote. The average annual fee for a business would be approximately $2,000 if the measure passes. The Council will have to call a special meeting to pass this legislation if they want it to get on this year's tax rolls

As CNYCentral reported earlier this month, the fee of $28 per foot of road frontage for Connective Corridor businesses would fund an annual budget of $150,000. It would provide for two dedicated employees and a program administered by the Downtown Committee. Syracuse University would put up some up front capital money for required equipment.
