Syracuse man and 17-year-old both charged with illegal gun possession

A Syracuse man and a 17-year-old male were both charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, according to Syracuse Police.

After a ground search, police located a semi-automatic handgun loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, within the suspects' path of travel.

Kivon Davis, 26, and the 17-year-old male were both arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, according to police.

Syracuse Police say they observed a suspicious male on the porch of a vacant property in the 200 block of Cannon Street around 11:23 p.m. Friday.

That man ran from police when they approached him, and then a second male was observed running from the residence, police said.

Both suspects were later observed in the 2500 block of South Salina Street, and were taken into custody after a foot pursuit, according to police.

Both suspects were sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center pending their arraignments.
