Syracuse man arrested after police say he robbed Northside market with a pellet gun

A Syracuse man is facing charges after a reported armed robbery at a Northside market Monday night.

Police were called to the Family Dream Market at 1009 Park Street, where they found a 20-year-old employee who had a minor head injury.

The clerk told officers that a former employee of the market came into the store, showed a handgun and demanded money from the register. The clerk identified the employee as 32-year-old Jerry Whitehead, who fled the scene in a car.

Officers found Whitehead at his home at 211 Pattison Street where he was taken into custody without incident. A black pellet gun was found in the home, which police believe could have been used in the robbery.

Whitehead is charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. He is due back in court at a later date.
