      Syracuse man indicted for murder in stabbing death of Germain Haywood

      A Syracuse man was indicted by an Onondaga County Grand Jury related to the stabbing death of Germain Haywood, 32, on May 3.

      35-year-old Spencer Williams, of Village Drive in Syracuse, was indicted on charges of second degree murder, first degree manslaughter, and third degree criminal possession of a weapon.

      Police say Haywood suffered multiple stab wounds the Grant Village Apartment Complex. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

      Williams has 43 prior arrests, the most recent was last November for forgery, and some were for violent crimes including assault, according to Police Chief Frank Fowler.
