Syracuse man injured after motorcycle crashes into telephone pole in DeWitt

A Syracuse man was injured Monday night when his motorcycle struck a telephone pole in the Town of DeWitt.

Deputies say David Darling, 50, was driving a Suzuki motorcycle north on North Midler

Avenue near Wavel Street when he drove off of the right side of the roadway at 407 North Midler and struck a telephone pole

Darling was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the roadway approximately 30 yards from the pole.

Deputies say Darling was the only occupant of the motorcycle and no one else was injured in the crash.

Darling was taken to Upstate University Hospital with serious head injuries. Deputies say Darling was wearing a helmet.

The posted speed limit on North Midler Avenue is 35 MPH.

The Onondaga County Sheriffâ??s Office is continuing to investigate the crash. No tickets have been issued.
