Syracuse man killed in two-car crash

A Syracuse man is dead after a two-car crash in the Town of Clay.

It happened Tuesday shortly before 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Caughdenoy and Maple Roads.

A 20-year-old driver was exiting Route 481 north at Caughdenoy Road and did not stop at the intersection, according to Onondaga County Sheriffs Deputies.

The driver was hit by an ADT company van driven by Scott Jaworski, 66, of Clay, who was traveling east on Maple Road, according to deputies.

The 20-year-old's Toyota was forced off Caughdenoy Road and the driver was extricated from the wreckage. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Jaworski was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for minor injuries.

The identity of the 20-year-old will be released after family members are notified.

Traffic was closed off at the Route 481 exit, Mirage Lane, Gatewood Drive, and Stearns Road while members of the Sheriff's Accident Investigation Team processed the scene.

Deputies re-opened the roadway just after 8:30 p.m.
