A Syracuse man is charged with breaking into a man's home, punching him and trying to get away with stolen items.
Police responded to the 300 block of Palmer Avenue around 12:20 a.m. to investigate a possible burglary in progress. 911 dispatchers say they received a call from the homeowner who told them he woke up to find a burglar in his home.
44-year-old Willie Riley, of 342 Palmer Avenue, is charged with burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny and harassment.
Police say Riley broke into the man's home, punched him and tried to get away. They say victim took off after Riley. Outside, they say Riley picked up a stick and threatened the man. He was later arrested.
Riley is locked up in the Justice Center.
