Syracuse Mayor's receptionist arrested and fired
A receptionist in the Mayor's office in Syracuse was arrested on drug charges Thursday night.
Emara Stanley, 24, was arrested by Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies.
Deputy Herb Wiggins confirms Stanley is facing drug charges. She was arrested along the 1700 block of South Salina Street. Wiggins says the arrest is part of an ongoing investigation.
According to Wiggins, Stanley was arraigned on drug charges Friday and posted bail after initially being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
The Mayor's office confirms Stanley was terminated from her position Friday morning.
The Mayor's spokesperson Alexander Marion confirms Stanley worked as a receptionist in the Mayor's office since January 2010. She was not arrested at City Hall. She did not report to work today, as she had a pre-scheduled vacation. Marion couldn't comment on when the Mayor was made aware of the investigation.
