Syracuse Police: Attempted robberies at Burger King, Dunkin' Donuts happen minutes apart

Syracuse Police are investigating two attempted robberies at a Burger King and Dunkin' Donuts that both occurred Tuesday morning on S. Salina Street.

According to police, officers responded to the Burger King at 700 S. Salina St. in regards to an attempted robbery call around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, officers met with a store employee who said that a man had entered the store and demanded money from the cashier. The cashier told the suspect that police had been called and he then left the area on foot heading eastbound.

Around 11:13 a.m., Syracuse Police officers responded to the Dunkin' Donuts store at 3915 S. Salina St. in regards to an attempted robbery call. When officers arrived there, they were told a man had entered the store and demanded money from the cashier. The cashier fled to the rear of the store and called for the police to respond.

The suspect then left the store on foot and headed southbound, possibly getting into a blue colored mini-van, police said.

Police said the suspect in both incidents was possibly the same person. He was described as a black male, 5’10” – 6’00” tall, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

There were no injuries reported and neither cashiers turned over any money to the suspect.
