Syracuse Police investigating homicide

The Syracuse Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened on Shonnard Street at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday night.

Police say Lavon Spaights, 22, of Syracuse was shot while he was standing in front of 115 Shonnard Street.

Witnesses said he was arguing with several males when shots were fired and he was hit.

Police say after Spaights was shot, he ran to the Midway Express market at 380 West Onondaga Street and collapsed.

He was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The investigation is ongoing.
