Syracuse Police investigating suspicious death of teen
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Syracuse Police are investigating the death of a Syracuse teen that occurred on Wednesday evening.
Syracuse Police said they responded to the 400 block of Shonnard Street in regards to a shooting call. Upon arrival police were informed the victim was being taken to the hospital in a private vehicle according to officials.
Niko Santana, 18, arrived at Upstate University Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, he later died of his injuries police said.
According to Syracuse City School District, Santana was a student at Henninger until 2016.
Officials said this is being investigated as a suspicious death at this time.
