Syracuse Police looking for 'armed and dangerous' suspect in Sabatino's Pizza murder

Eric Woody

There is now a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect wanted for the murder of a man at Sabatino's Pizza and Deli.

New York State Crime Stoppers in cooperation with the City of Syracuse Police Department, is now offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that directly leads to the whereabouts, arrest and conviction of Eric Woody. He is wanted for the shooting homicide of 38-year-old Shqair Shqair during a robbery of Sabatino's on Ballantyne Road in Syracuse on October 1.

Police say Woody is still at large and maybe a danger to the community.

Police issued photos of Woody, which accompany this story, and say he is on the run and should be considered â??armed and dangerous.â?? Woody is described as standing 5â??8â?? tall and weighing 149 pounds. He has a tattoo on his right arm that reads "OC Eric." Police have a warrant out for Woody's arrest.

Woody is accused of entering the pizzeria on Ballantyne Road around 1:00 a.m, demanding cash from Shqair, and then shooting him once when he didn't turn over the money fast enough. Shqair died several hours later at Upstate University Hospital after emergency surgery was unsuccessful.

Fowler says Woody is a member of the Bloods gang, but police don't think this shooting was gang-related.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYS Crime Stoppers hot line call center at 1-866-313-TIPS (8477).
