Syracuse Police make arrest and recover loaded handgun

Syracuse Police responded to a residence on Glenwood Avenue at about 11:35 p.m. Tuesday night after 911 received a call that there was a man with a gun in the hallway of the apartment complex.

Police say they quickly arrived on the scene and found Vinh Phan, 24, of Syracuse, in the stairwell of the building.

According to police, Phan was detained by officers while the rest of the hallway and landings in the apartment complex were searched.

Police say while searching the hallway and landings where Phan had just come from, officers discovered a loaded .32 caliber revolver.

Phan was charged with multiple felonies including criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

Phan was lodged in the Justice Center and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Syracuse City Criminal Court.
