Syracuse Police to beef up security ahead of Final Four weekend

Syracuse Police plan to beef up security across the city ahead of The Final Four this weekend.

There will be increased police presence on Saturday night in anticipation of big crowds in four specific locations: Marshall Street, Armory Square, the University area and Destiny USA.

The Marshall Street area will be under camera surveillance so police can identify troublemakers.

Several streets will be closed off in the area around Marshall Street, including parts of University and Crouse Avenues. Certain streets in Armory Square will also be blocked off. Police will release more details on that later this week.

In 2003, Syracuse Police arrested 24 people related to Final Four celebrations, mostly for minor incidents like small fires, climbing trees and even a streaker.

Police say they will arrest anyone causing trouble. Students could also face disciplinary action by the University.
