Syracuse teen accused of robbing 11-year-old at knifepoint

A Syracuse teen is under arrest, accused of robbing an 11-year-old boy of his cell phone at knifepoint.

Syracuse Police were called to the 400 block of Ash Street just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, where the 11-year-old told them a boy waved a knife at him, stole his cell phone, and ran away.

Police stopped a 15-year-old boy on Park Street who matched the description of the person of interest.

They recovered the stolen cell phone and the knife, and charged the 15-year-old with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sent to the Hilbrooke Detention Facility, and will appear in Family Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Police will not release his name because of his age.

The 11-year-old was not hurt.
