Syracuse University officer cleared for work after lightning strike
A Syracuse University Public Safety officer who was stunned during a lightning strike on Sunday night has been cleared to return to work.
Senior Detective Ed Weber was stunned during a lightening strike on SUâ??s South Campus that severely injured another officer, Stan Prue, who was with him at the time. Prue was shocked as he exited the patrol car and was thrown about four feet and knocked unconscious.
Weber and Prue were taken to Upstate University Hospital. Weber, who became disoriented and nauseated during the strike, was treated and released from the hospital.
SU Public Safety Chief Tony Callisto said Thursday that Weberâ??s doctors have cleared him to return to work.
Officials did not comment on Prueâ??s condition.
