Syracuse woman killed in shooting on West Corning Avenue

A Syracuse woman was killed in a shooting Syracuse's south side.

Police say 26-year-old Tierra Newton, of Bruce Street, was shot in the 100 block of West Corning Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. She was standing in the street at time.

Information on the suspect or suspects is very limited at this time.

Police say they believe that there was a party going on down the street at the time of the shooting and hope witnesses will come forward with information.

This investigation is active and ongoing.

Syracuse police are asking that anyone with information on this homicide to contact detectives at 315-442-5222.

Police are investigating a separate shooting that happened on Bruce Street at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. They are looking to see if the two shootings are connected.
