Syracuse woman leads police on chase in Town of Granby
Tue, 04 Sep 2012 12:21:51 GMT — A trespass complaint led to the arrest of a Syracuse woman who led police on a short chase in the Town of Granby.State Police in Fulton responded to a trespass complaint at 5 Donna Drive in the Town of Granby around 8:15p.m. Friday night.Police say a caller reported that an unwanted person was sitting in a black jeep in his driveway.When police arrived, they saw a woman later identified as Dawn C. North, of Syracuse, walking around the side yard. Police told her to stand in front of the Jeep while they talked with the person who called police.While they were talking, police say North ran around the Jeep, got inside and turned it on. Then she drove off, despite instructions to stop.North headed south on Rathburn Road and failed to stop for the emergency lights of the trooper who was pursuing her.Police say she eventually stopped on State Route 3 near County Route 8 and was arrested. After being handcuffed, police say she continued to fight with the officers. North damaged State Police property while in custody.Officers say they found a small amount of a controlled substance in Northâ??s Jeep.North was charged with DWAI â?? drugs, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, harassment and other vehicle and traffic violations.North was arraigned in the Town of Granby Court and remanded on $2,500 cash bail to the Oswego County Jail.North is due back in the Town of Granby Court on September 10.
