Taberg man allegedly shoots grandson in back with BB gun

James F. Gabler

A Taberg man is accused of shooting his 11-year-old grandson in the back with a BB gun.

Deputies say James F. Gabler, age 56, was in the backyard with his grandson who was playing with the gun. The boy set the gun down on a table and ran off.

Gabler picked up the gun from the table and pulled the trigger to clear the gun, which discharged a BB, hitting the child in the back.

Deputies say the boy had to have the BB removed from under his skin at the hospital.

Gabler was arrested Monday and charged with assault. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Annsville Court at a later date.
