Teen sentenced to 18 months for deadly "knockout game" beating conviction
A Syracuse teenager has been sentenced to 18 months in a state-managed detention facility for the beating death of a 51-year-old man attacked at random as part of a "knockout game."
A 13-year-old boy who initiated the attack on Michael Daniels in May has pleaded guilty to assault. He's expected to be sentenced next week.
Police say the boys punched Daniels as he stood outside a corner store, competing to knock him out with one punch.
The judge says the sentence was based on several factors, including the boy's history of threatening and intimidating his teachers at school.
