Teen shot in face, leg on Syracuse's South Side, police say

A shooting on Syracuse's South side sent a 17-year-old to the hospital Saturday afternoon, according to Syracuse Police.

Officers were called to the area of Marguerite Avenue and South Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. for the shooting.

When police arrived, they found the 17-year-old with gunshot wounds to his face and leg. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital by AMR ambulance to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered to be life threatening.

Police describe the suspect as a black man who was wearing a black sweatshirt and dark jeans. He was last seen leaving the area on foot, heading northbound on South Avenue.
