The NY Jets are bringing team, economic impact, back to SUNY Cortland

The rumors have been swirling, but now itâ??s official: The New York Jets will return to SUNY Cortland for training camp this year. The renewal of the Jetsâ?? partnership agreement with SUNY Cortland was announced Wednesday.

The mean green will report to camp in July for its fifth year in Cortland.

"The school and the community have joined together to continually provide a terrific backdrop for our team to come together at a critical stage of our season," Jets General Manager John Idzik said Wednesday. "I am pleased that we are returning to Cortland for training camp again this summer."

Head Coach Rex Ryan has high praise for the school and the community.

"I love the fact that we are going back to Cortland," Ryan said. "Everyone knows how I feel about going away. I think it is a big part of building our team camaraderie. The community, the school and the people of Cortland have been outstanding and we are all excited to be going back this summer."

SUNY Cortland isnâ??t the only beneficiary of the Jets being in town. Local businesses are impacted by the thousands of fans who come to the area to watch the team get ready for the season. The partnership has generated $19.24 million in economic impact for Cortland County.

The exact dates for the training camp have not yet been announced.
