The victims of the Truxton crash

Carino Vanorden was killed in the crash

The Cortland County community continues to mourn the loss of the seven people killed in a horrific car crash in Truxton Wednesday night.

26-year-old Teresa Bush was killed along with her two daughters 4-year-old Alexis Bush and 5-year-old Jasmine Bush. According to her Facebook page, she was in a relationship with Shawn Mead, 31, the only survivor in the car. He is a 1999 graduate of DeRuyter Central School.

Mead's two children, 7-year-old Alyssa Mead and 4-year-old Tyler Mead, were killed in the crash. Alyssa was a student at Parker Elementary School in Cortland. Tyler was scheduled to start preschool at Smith Elementary School in the fall. The superintendent says the district is offering counseling to teachers and students in light of the tragedy.

21-year-old Lena Beckwith was also killed in the crash. She was a 2011 graduate of DeRuyter Central School and was engaged to 24-year-old Carino Vanorden who was also killed in the crash. He was a Fayetteville Manlius graduate. VanordenĂ¢??s mother, Kate Vanorden, said Friday that her adopted son was in a deeply committed relationship with Beckwith. She said Carino Vanorden lived with Beckwith and her family.

On Facebook a R.I.P. Teresa Bush page has been started where people can post condolences and memories. Friends of Teresa Bush are affectionately referring to the girls as Lexi and Jazzy.
