Thousands pack grandstand to see Toby Keith

Thousands of Toby Keith fans were at the New York State Fair grandstand on Friday night to see the country superstar perform.

For many fans, the concert is the highlight of the entire fair. "I love country music," said Julie Humble, who drove from Ithaca for the show. "I love Toby Keith. He's one of my favorite singers. It's been that way for probably about 10 years now."

For others, it's Toby Keith's connections to Syracuse that make the concert even better. Keith recently opened a restaurant in Destiny USA. "It's been really exciting to go to his restaurant, but to see him in person is even more exciting," said Madison Maclaury of Baldwinsville.

Some fans purchased their tickets at a discount, thanks to a special $20 'Hump Day' ticket deal. "It was kind of a last minute, 'Well, why not?,' said Lauren O'Leary of Liverpool. "It's $20. There's tickets left. Let's go."

Toby Keith is one of 8 concerts and 10 total acts performing at the grandstand this year.
