Three stabbed early Sunday morning on Syracuse South Side

Three taken to the hospital after a stabbing incident at 134 Belle Ave. just before 6am Sunday morning

*Update* Syracuse Police say 46-year-old Lawrence Stokes Sr. attacked his family in their 134 Belle Avenue home. When they arrived, officers found three members of the Stokes family had been attacked.

17-year-old Shaquill Stokes had stab wounds to the right eye and chest, 23-year-old Lawrence Stokes Jr. had a stab wound in the face and had been hit in the head with a hammer. Stokes Sr.'s wife, Carolyn Smith, had also been hit in the head with a hammer.

Shaquille Stokes will need emergency surgery for his eye, and police say he may lose vision in his eye due to the severity of the wound. The others were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Stokes Sr. also stole a fourth unidentified person's wallet during the attack.

Lawrence Stokes Sr. was arrested and charged with assault, grand larceny, criminal contempt for violating an order of protection and criminal possession of a weapon.

Stokes Sr. is being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center while police investigate the motive behind the attack.
