Three Syracuse families homeless after early morning house fire

Fire at 303 South Midler Avenue in Syracuse

Three Syracuse families are homeless after a fire burned through a home.

Flames quickly engulfed the fire at 303 South Midler Avenue around 2 a.m. Monday, causing extensive damage to the third floor, the roof, and the back of the house.

It took firefighters about a half hour to knock down the fire but they continued monitor it to ensure the fire didn't rekindle.

Officials say everyone was able to get out safely and there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross arranged housing at a nearby hotel for the three families.
