Today is 'Laura Hand Celebration Day' in honor of her 45 years with us in Syracuse!
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Monday is a very special day for us at 1030 James Street - we're celebrating 45 years of having Laura Hand on our team.
To help mark the occasion, Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner has issued a proclamation declaring Monday "Laura Hand Celebration Day."
Laura Hand is best-known as the news anchor on Weekend Today in Central New York, Saturday and Sunday mornings on NBC3. She also anchors and produces NBC3’s Monday Night Answer Desk segments, during which viewers can call or email questions about specific topics of concern to a panel of experts.
Laura has won numerous awards for both her journalism and her work within the community. Here at our studios, she's consistently one of the first people in the office and one of the last people out.
In a time when a word like "dedication" seems most often to be used halfheartedly as part of a marketing ploy, we're proud to have Laura, a true personification of the word "dedication" (and several others, for that matter), setting an example for the rest of us.
The best part is Laura genuinely loves the work and brings an unyielding passion with her every single day. We think this snippet from her bio on our website sums it up perfectly:
Dream Job: I like my current job!
Thank you, Laura, for 45 years and everything you continue to do in and outside of the newsroom.
