Too many cats, so Mattydale SPCA offers a bargain

Too many cats are being housed at the SPCA in Mattydale, and with the expectations of many more coming in, they're doing a sale to cut the numbers.
""So if you want to pay a penny, you want to pay a dollar, make the offer," says executive director Paul Morgan. The Name Your Own Price offer waives the normal $155 adoption fee.
Normal capacity is 200 cats. They're at 350 now, and Morgan says it's putting a stress on the staff, and on the cats. Many animals come in sick, after being rescued, and the shelter does not have room for the separate cages they need. And, staffers who wash the dishes and laundry for 200 are now coping with almost double the numbers.
"Every day they're here it's costing us money. It's costing for care, food, the staff to care for them," says Morgan..
Even though they'll go at bargain prices, the cats will all be spayed or neutered and will have their shots.
The shelter hopes that people who cannot afford the normal prices will take advantage of the deal to get a pet, and that people who can afford more, will make a donation--which will help pay for the spaying and neutering.
