Traffic Alert - Downtown Syracuse street closures for Joe LaGuardia 5K Run/Walk

A number of streets will be closed Tuesday evening in the Syracuse Inner Harbor area for the First Annual Joe LaGuardia 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Amyloidosis Foundation.

LaGuardia was a long-time State Fair Marketing Director and Syracuse Inner Harbor Lakefront Executive Director. He passed away on May 14, 2012 from amyloidosis, a rare protein disorder.

The run is kicks off at 5:30 p.m. at the Inner Harborâ??s Amphitheatre area in downtown Syracuse. The run will be followed by an evening of live music, food and raffles.

The following roads will be closed and/or will experience intermittent traffic delays:

--Kirkpatrick Street, from Van Rensselaer to Solar Streets â?? from 5 to 7 p.m.

--Van Rensselaer Street, between Kirkpatrick and Park Streets â?? 5:30 to 6 p.m.

--Park Avenue, between Geddes and Plum Street, will experience intermittent traffic delays from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

--Tracy Street, from Plum to Park Streets â?? between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

--Plum Street, between Tracy to Park Streets â?? from 5:30 to 5:50 p.m.

--Spencer Street, from Van Rensselaer to Maltbie Streets â?? from 5:40 to 6 p.m.

--Plum Street, from Bridgewater Place to Solar Street -- from 5:40 to 6 p.m.

--Solar Street, between Plum and Kirkpatrick Streets â?? from 5:40 to 6 p.m.

Joe's wife Carol and their daughter Lori Harrington have organized the event, saying it will reflect his love of music and raise awareness of Amyloidosis.
