The Department of Transportation announced that I-690 bridges over Peat Street and North Crouse Avenue, in both directions, will have their pre-cast concrete decks sealed next week.
A portion of I-690 Westbound will be reduced to one lane on Monday and Tuesday. A portion of I-690 Eastbound will be reduced to one lane on Wednesday and Thursday.
The DOT says this is follow-up work to the deck replacement projects last year. The work will waterproof the joints between the panels to prevent leakage.
The DOT says motorists should expect delays on I-690, Erie Boulevard between downtown and Teall Avenue and on Teall Avenue during the construction period.
The following will be in effect during the construction periods:
Westbound: Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.:
-- I-690 Westbound will be reduced to one lane between Midler Avenue and Townsend Street
-- I-690 Westbound Townsend Street off-ramp will remain open
Eastbound: Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.:
-- I-690 Eastbound will be reduced to one lane between Townsend Street and Teall Avenue; this will affect traffic into the 81/690 interchange.
-- The on-ramp to eastbound I-690 Eastbound at McBride Street will be closed; traffic will be detoured along Erie Blvd and re-enter eastbound I-690 at Teall Avenue.
-- The on-ramp from northbound I-81 to I-690 Eastbound will be closed; this traffic will be detoured to exit onto Almond Street, proceed north, turn right onto Erie Boulevard and re-enter eastbound I-690 at Teall Avenue.
