A huge sinkhole opened up in Syracuse Wednesday morning, causing damage to a garbage truck.
Syracuse Police responded around 9:45 a.m. on Tully Street near Wyoming and Tioga Streets. A Waste Management garbage truck was stuck in hole and had to be removed. No one was hurt.
City officials tell CNY Central a small water main break on a hydrant line caused the road to collapse, creating the sinkhole about 3-4 feet deep. There have been more than 200 water main breaks in the city so far this year.
Syracuse DPW crews are on the scene and are working to fix the road. A portion of Tully Street will be closed until later this afternoon.
