A former scoutmaster and current supervisor of the Town of Trenton has turned down a plea offer from prosecutors, and his case will go to trial.
The Oneida County District Attorneyâ??s Office tells CNY Central that 52-year-old Mark Scheidelman refused their offer of a plea agreement on the charge of first degree sexual abuse. His case is now scheduled to go to trial on May 20. The DAâ??s office did not provide any details of the plea offer.
Scheidelman was arrested in November 2012 and accused of having sexual contact with a child under the age of 11. Schiedelman was indicted by a Grand Jury in March and pleaded not guilty about two weeks ago.
Scheidelman is a former Boy Scout leader and Chairman of the Oneida County Republican Party. He is currently out on bail and remains in office as town supervisor. He is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 22.
