Trim your own trees, or become a Tree Steward

Learning to identify trees and shape them can beautify your property and make the trees healthier. It's a skill that can also be used by volunteering as a Community Tree Steward

Homeowner Tree Workshops are coming up. The FREE training sessions are designed to help homeowners know what to do, to make trees on their properties stronger and prettier.

The skills can also be used in parks and on public lands. Clare Carney, from Cornell Cooperative Extension here in Onondaga County, says the program started after the Labor Day Storm here, and some volunteers have worked in the program for years.

This year's training sessions are on April 25th and May 2nd, 6-8pm at the Geddes Town Hall, 1000 Woods Rd in Solvay. You can sign up online: https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/CTS_231
You can also register by phone (315) 424-9485 x 263, or email cec294@cornell.edu

Weekly projects will start after the training . The full calendar and more information is here: http://cceonondaga.org/environment/forestry/communitree-stewards
