A State Police officer was hurt after being involved in a car crash while en route to a reported bomb threat in Dewitt.
Troopers were called to the Spring Hill Suites at 6580 Weighlock Drive in the Town of Dewitt for a reported bomb threat. The hotel manager said that he thought the caller was related to an employee of the hotel.
The investigation led troopers to 228 Grant Boulevard in Syracuse, where they arrested 42-year-old Steven E. Buckingham. He is charged with falsely reporting an incident and aggravated harassment.
Investigators say that while on his way to the scene, a trooper was driving south on Northern Boulevard approached the intersection with East Taft Road. As the trooper entered the intersection, with his lights and siren on, the light turned red. The trooper slowed down and was then hit by a car. The trooper was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, authorities say. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital for treatment of neck and back pain.
The investigation is continuing.
