Turning Stone robbery suspect found hiding in nearby woods

Jacob Walsh

A man is behind bars after State Police say he robbed the Turning Stone Casino on Tuesday night.

State Police and Oneida Nation Police were called to the casino at about 11:30 pm for a reported armed robbery.

Troopers say 30-year-old Jacob Walsh, of Newfield, NY, walked up to a cashier, handed her a note saying he had a weapon and to fill his backpack with money. Walsh left on foot towards the Thruway.

It was not long before troopers found Walsh hiding in the woods near exit 33. He was taken into custody without incident.

Walsh is charged with first degree robbery. He was arraigned and sent to Oneida County Jail on $60,000 bail.

He is due back in court on August 25. The investigation is ongoing.
