Two alarm fire on Polk Street, no injuries

Polk Street fire

Several fire companies battled a raging fire on Polk Street in Syracuse Tuesday night, not far from the Adult World Bookstore. The blaze happened at 123 Polk Street.

The is the fourth fire the Syracuse Fire Department has responded to at the apartment building in four days.

The fire on Tuesday night is under investigation, but investigators say the three other fires were intentionally set.

Several minutes after the first call for help came in Tuesday, fire officials on the scene called in a second alarm, and made the call that the flames would be fought exclusively from outside.

The deputy fire chief says the fire departments used a two-pronged attack to knock down the blaze, battling it from both sides of the apartment complex. The complex is set in a hill, making it difficult to reach.

One person who lived at the apartment was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
