An Auburn man is accused of helping a teen escape from the Hillside Children's Center where he worked.
State police say 30-year-old John VanDusen, of 3330 Franklin St. Rd., helped a 17-year-old escape from the center in August. Police say he allowed the teen to stay with him until December.
Police say they later found a marijuana growing operation at his home and seized more than one pound of processed marijuana.
He's charged with escape, custodial interference, criminal possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing cannabis. He was arraigned in the Town of Sennett Court and sent to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.
28-year-old Meghan VanDusen, who also lived at the home, was charged with criminal possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing cannabis. She was arraigned in court and sent to the jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 secured bond.
The 17-year-old was later returned to the care of Social Services.
