Two CNY school marching bands to perform on big gridiron stages
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Two Central New York school marching bands will be performing during two much-anticipated games on the gridiron.
The Baldwinsville Marching Bees will perform a pre-game and half-time show at New Era Field in Orchard Park when the Buffalo Bills face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 11.
The schools says the Bills invited the band members to be their guests, and the Bills will pay for the band's travel expenses.
The Cicero-North Syracuse marching band has also been invited to perform during a football game - this one being the TaxSlayer Bowl. The band will join several others from across the country in the halftime show finale for the game.
"An invitation to perform at the TaxSlayer Bowl is an honor reserved only for the most talented student performers from across the nation," a release by the school district stated.
The band will travel to Jacksonville and rehearse with the mass band and learn from nationally acclaimed adjudicators. This will be the first time the school's Northstars Marching Band has traveled to a bowl game in over 20 years, according to the school.
